Times Magazine Breastfeeding Cover

The cover picture is for an article about a parenting philosophy called Attachment Parenting (AP). Parents focus on forming strong emotional bonds with their children as they grow, using techniques such as co-sleeping, baby wearing and extended nursing (In this case, the picture of Jamie Lynn Grumet still breast feeding her 3 years old son as shown on Times Cover). The public has been in an uproar ever since the picture was released.

But people's reactions seem to indicate almost everyone agrees that it's not natural, it looks absurd, it's insane, it's terrible and it's wrong! But is that the case here? Or are people simply too judgemental and not willing to look beyond the fact that AP is a completely different style of parenting? Because people do have a tendency to equate "different" with "wrong" despite an absence of things like "facts." - Click here for more on Attachment Parenting.
What do you think of the cover though?  Should attachment parenting be encouraged?
Thanks for reading :)
