#angercheck

#Word :)

God is so clear when it comes to being angry....

Yup! You will always get mad but what do you do with it?
(Break someone's head and teeth and wish death upon the person OR repay evil with good)

Here are some quotes on anger I love:

“Don't hold to anger, hurt or pain. They steal your

energy and keep you from love.”

― Leo Buscaglia

“Let today be the day you stop being haunted by

the ghost of yesterday. Holding a grudge &

harboring anger/resentment is poison to the soul.

Get even with people...but not those who have

hurt us, forget them, instead get even with those

who have helped us.”

― Steve Maraboli

“Learn this from me. Holding anger is a poison. It

eats you from inside. We think that hating is a

weapon that attacks the person who harmed us.

But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we

do, we do to ourselves.”

― Mitch Albom

Anger is just anger. It isn't good. It isn't bad. It just

is. What you do with it is what matters. It's like

anything else. You can use it to build or to

destroy. You just have to make the choice." Jim

Butcher

The strong person is not the good wrestler.

Rather, the strong person is the one who controls

himself when he is angry

--- Sahih al-Bukhari

Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the

vessel in which it is stored than to anything on

which it is poured.”

― Mark Twain

“Speak when you are angry and you will make

the best speech you will ever regret.”

― Ambrose Bierce

“Angry people are not always wise.”

― Jane Austen

“Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host.

But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.”

― Maya Angelou

“Never go to bed mad. Stay up and fight.”

― Phyllis Diller

They've said it all....

A Rainy Day AGO...

One of the many things I’m grateful for are ‘rainy’ situations. Yup!!! I feel like, somehow they are there for a reason. Let me explain!!!

No matter how heavy a rain falls, the sun will always shine, there will be warmth, there will be a dose of fresh air and most importantly, there will be growth (One of the lessons I got from Madea’s witness protection. Thanks Mr. Perry!!!!!)

Rainy situations are around specifically for the reasons stated above. Sometimes though, it’s hard and uncomfortable and ugly. Like imagine losing all of your ‘life’ documents and properties to a flood or fire; or losing a beloved one to death; or struggling to survive each day 'cos you've got only mom taking care of you and your kid sister; or being jilted by that guy you've been with for 7 years; or growing up in the projects. The list can go on.

But, no matter how difficult your rainy situation is, remember that the sun will eventually shine.
Yesterday, I came across this Bible verse in James 1:2-8:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
My first thought was, "Uhmm, God, How can I be JOYFUL when facing many trials?"
But God says so. And as long as you ask Him for strength and Help, He will give you. He would walk with you and help you through the storm ‘cos He loves You.
Ps: walking through the rain teaches you FAITH, ENDURANCE and makes you COMPLETE. Wow!

One rainy day ago, me and my amazingly God-sent angelic boyfriend had this ‘crazy-unnecessary-annoying-long’ argument and after the tears and 'I-wont-talk-to-you-anymore' and eventual forgiveness and make-up .^_^. we recognized that no matter how ‘lovey dovey’ we are, we would always have rainy situations in our relationships. However, they are there to make to make us grow, to breathe a dose of fresh air into our lives and to draw us closer to each other and God (God did help us through this one, I tell ya ~winks~)...
I sent this to my darling and he wouldn't stop laughing :))
It might be all tears some 'rainy' days ago but soon and very soon, you will surely find peace and completeness.

Be joyful no matter how crazy your situation is. Always focus on the light at the end of the tunnel and remember that God is with you through the heavy wind and the millions of tiny raindrops….

XOXO

FEAR NOT!!!!!!!!!!

Hellooooooo :))
How are you doing and how was your night?
Last night was a bit scary. Woke up to dogs barking, gunshots and loud thuds from my heart.

It was so scary and my first thought after calming my heart was 'Stay calm, God will fight for you!!!'...
Thankfully, it was nothing other than, a 'trigger' happy night watch guard who was more than happy to secure us.

But it was SCARY though

What do you do when you are in FEAR? Talk to God. And then worry your poor heart out?

It's a new week and maybe we get to experience new fears, like an annoying boss, or maybe no job or even a health scare or  maybe your life becomes this new horror movie... BUT always remember that no matter what your FEARS are, 'Lay it all on God, He Cares'. (1 Peter 5:7). Trust HIM only.

It's not easy though. Like right now, I'm stuck with working with a somewhat difficult colleague :(
However, I've learnt to Trust God and be friendly and smile through it.  :) (Trusting only GOD for help with the situation)

Knowing that God is faithful, it really helps me to not be captivated by worry. But knowing that He will do what He has said, He will cause it to happen, whatever He has promised, and then it causes me to be less involved in worrying about a situation.- Josh McDowell

Have a beautiful week with less fears and more faith...

Big Hugs :))

A-Z ....

Hello :)

How are you doing?

Yesterday, for the first time, I saw my baby cousin in an ‘ultrasonic-ish picture. Uncle E (I call my second cousin that) is having his first child (Not telling you his baby sex yet) and in his super excited state he showed me his beautiful bundle of joy. Thanks to the movies, I could make out the baby’s head (hehehehehe), but then, I started thinking about life – the beginning and end of life and came up with what I call my A-Z of life. Hope to teach my lil cousin ‘this’ and other important values when ‘she/he’ grows up and really hoping you like it too and together we would learn from it…
Here it is, A—Z of life:
A-Arise amazing one
B-Be the best you there is
C- Confident and Competent
D- Daring, different, a mini dandelion perhaps, and not scared of being disciplined
E- Eager and encouraging in life and not egocentric like some
F- Fearless in obstacles, fun loving too
G- God fearing always
H- Hates pretence and holds hospitality in high esteem
I- Illuminating the world with your true being
J- Joy incomparable, advocator of justice
K- Kind-hearted like Mother Theresa
L-Loving others without judgement
M- Master economist like always, so you don’t get hungry later
N- Negative? No. Nice? Yes
O- On top of your game but won’t wallow in self-pity if you fall.
P- Perhaps cry a lil bit, but willing to put on a brave face again. Not scared to ask for help through prayer to God.

Q- Questioning every knowledge out there, curiosity does not always kill the cat (But it does sometimes).
R-Rejoicing with others, re-jigging something’s in life.
S- Slow to anger, quick in listening
T- Tactful and truthful
U-‘ugh-ing’ at ugly situations but remaining unbiased still
V- Visibly crazy about being a visionary
W- Wishing the best for all
X- X-raying all situations
Y-Yearning for good things
Z- ‘Zestful for life always’, very important.

Isn't this too long for a child? (just joking). Maybe it can help us too. Probably, make it our A-Z of life :)

WITH LOVE FROM 'DISNEY'

Hello :)
How is your day going so far?

Would try to keep today's post short ‘cos my fingers still ache from today’s guitar lesson. Spent most of my day learning the G and D chord and Nate (My teacher) insisted that we use our fingers instead of a plectrum. So now, it’s aching me a ‘Lil bit'.

Anyway, after today’s class, I spent the day indoors with some ram meat (My adorable Muslim neighbour shared some meat) and Disney channel (Thanks to my sisters love for ‘Shake it up’).

Disney is one of my fave channels (Kind of young at heart) and I learnt an important lesson in the art of cultivating great friendships. As we watched the different shows, from ‘ANT’, to ‘GOOD LUCK CHARLIE’, 'ALLY AND AUSTIN' and 'JESSIE', ‘and even a rerun of ‘LET IT SHINE', I sensed the ‘best friend ‘thingy’ going on (like rocky and cece in shake it up), and I started thinking about my friends, you know, my really best friends and some friendship that I've lost, like Goyte sang in ‘Somebody I used to know’, I realized that over the years, a lot people I used to call friends are now people ‘I used to know’.

I guess friends are special people, and sometimes they become family eventually. Friendship goes on a deeper level. It goes beyond sending virtual hugs and kisses on Black berry or saying hi once in a while.

Sometimes, it’s like there’s a friend for different aspect in our life (A friend for partying and one for shopping or one for laughs, etc). That’s not the friendship I'm referring to here. I'm referring to the kind of friendship God talked about when he said ‘A friend is like a brother or sister’ and that's the kind I saw/ learnt from my Disney shows today- friendship that transcends family ties.

True friends cries with us when we are sad, isn't insensitive to our needs, easily forgives us but also tells us ‘I told you so’ when we make a silly mistake.

Who is your ideal friend?

Mine is that person I call when I have a super amazing news or even a heart breaking news and I can cry on their shoulder without being judged. And most importantly, it's that person I can sit with in silence and still feel comfortable.

A friend of mine once said ‘Just because I accept your friend request on Facebook doesn't make you my friend. Just because I have over 200 contacts on BB doesn't mean they are all interested in the workings of my heart. I still feel lonely in a crowded room’. Friendship takes lots of effort. A truck load of effort to make it work.

Love those whom you truly call friends. Invest some of your time for them and your true friend will reciprocate it’. Expect mistakes also (they are as perfectly imperfect like you).
I just thought of my best friends (they are so handful). They always make me feel like I’m great and they are always there. I try to do the same for them. I rejoice with them and I try to build them up and I cry when they do. We fight sometimes {they mess up a lot :) }, but we make up and I love them...My best friends are God and ...... (fill in the gap)....

It's your turn. How do you treat your friends?

OK, will stop now. It's already long,  right?

Hugs.

Thanks a lot for reading...Really 'preciate your support :)

BEST WISHES

Happy Monday Everyone,
How was your day?
I feel a cold coming (Sneezing), got drenched tonight L…Just wanted to say hi and to let you know that this month is ‘Breast Cancer awareness month’….
They say ignorance is no excuse for anything. No more 'I-didn't know'. No more excuses (talking to myself too), check yourself right now, and encourage your loved ones to check themselves too... Tell the guys too (Though it’s not common in men, they can be prone to breast cancer. Can you imagine? Never knew that till I read this. It's an eye opener.)

If you are in Lagos, the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) is having an awareness rally/ free screening on the 13th of October, tagged 'jog for life' at FIIRO Junction, Cappa B.stop, Oshodi. You can visit their twitter handle @jogforlife
Though, frankly, I think we need more support in this regard. We really need a better health care system  in Nigeria 'cos for example, 'if a market woman discovers she has cancer, is there a system to treat her or would she save for a coffin instead?' (We need to stop talking and act NOW.)...Really need to improve.

Anyway, here's how a 'breast' self exam goes (for the ladies):
Step 1: Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips.
Here's what you should look for:·         Breasts that are their usual size, shape, and color
·         Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortion or swelling
If you see any of the following changes, bring them to your doctor's attention:·         Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin
·         A nipple that has changed position or an inverted nipple (pushed inward instead of sticking out)Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling.
Step 2: Now, raise your arms and look for the same changes.Step 3: While you're at the mirror, look for any signs of fluid coming out of one or both nipples (this could be a watery, milky, or yellow fluid or blood).Step 4: Next, feel your breasts while lying down, using your right hand to feel your left breast and then your left hand to feel your right breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with the first few finger pads of your hand, keeping the fingers flat and together. Use a circular motion, about the size of a quarter.Cover the entire breast from top to bottom, side to side — from your collarbone to the top of your abdomen, and from your armpit to your cleavage.Follow a pattern to be sure that you cover the whole breast. You can begin at the nipple, moving in larger and larger circles until you reach the outer edge of the breast. You can also move your fingers up and down vertically, in rows, as if you were mowing a lawn. This up-and-down approach seems to work best for most women. Be sure to feel all the tissue from the front to the back of your breasts: for the skin and tissue just beneath, use light pressure; use medium pressure for tissue in the middle of your breasts; use firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back. When you've reached the deep tissue, you should be able to feel down to your ribcage.Step 5: Finally, feel your breasts while you are standing or sitting. Many women find that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery, so they like to do this step in the shower. Cover your entire breast, using the same hand movements described in Step 4.

You will never understand the gift of a perfect health till you visit the hospital; Smell disinfectants, hear sounds of machines as they try to support a loved one, stare at ill people and sad families.

I doff my hat to all the health/ volunteer workers worldwide who are working hard and selflessly to ensure we are healthy. Here's me saying 'thank you'...
