Little Miracles :)

Hello Dear,
Isn’t it nice experiencing the end of a year and walking into the new year?
I’m so excited. You?

Wrote this little poem that makes me grateful for every single moment of my amazing life. It’s called ‘Little miracles’. Also, reminding you to always be grateful for something because someone out there wishes they were in shoes right now. Like I always tell myself when I complain, shut up and think again.
LITTLE MIRACLES- By Ijeoma U
For the smile behind the sadness
For the hands that wipes the tears
For arms to hug the broken hearted
For toes that run to my loved ones
****
For thoughts to fill my graven mind
For eyes to feeds wisdom to my brain
For the man that lovingly holds me on those days
For the family that longingly hear my babbling
****
For learning innocence from kids
For learning experience from life
For feeling love from you
For gaining strength from the work of my hands
****
For insightful discussions in a crowded room
For the gift of water, bread, and bed
For strength to hold these dear
For contentment, peace and joy
****
For a neck to done grandma’s necklace
For shoulders to wear sisters bag
For ears to pique buzzing flies
And good health to help a failing body
***
For breathe to enjoy all of these
For friends to share them with
For courage to bear the losses
For the One who provides
****
For the little miracles in my life
My heart swells everyday
My feet dances
My waist sways
****
For the little miracles in my life
I, only I, know it
How priceless every one of them is
Even the closed doors.
The end…

I'm not lucky. I'm blessed'. Blessed beyond measures. Thanking God for all of the amazing people in my life, including you (you took the time out to read this post. Wow!!! You rock!!! Thanks). Also grateful for the storms and rainbows. Yayyy :)
Ps: Another reason to be grateful; It's my kid sisters birthday. 'Tis an amazing way to end the year :))

Thanks again for reading. Hugs!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

FIRST LOVE

Hello Dear,
How are you?
Though I'm no Maya Angelou, I love poetry as well. I love to attempt writing one. And I decided to write this one (First Love) to honor the One who loved us first.

Ps: He’s also the owner of our unique amazing talents.

Hope you feel the same way I do about Him J

Like they say in my language,  'Jehovah na eme m ihe dinma' (Jehovah is always doing something good for me)

FIRST LOVE by ijeoma U.
I met Him as a new born,
Seeing Him through tiny little eyes and happy mouths.
I felt Him against warm soft blue cloths and sock,
Holding me in arms, Oh so tender.
I smelt him in the rain,
Beneath thick little pink blanket.
I walked with Him on wobbly legs,
encouraging me to move on sturdy floor.
Even when life happened,
and I drifted away from His ever longing friendship,
His still powerful voice whispered quietly,
‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’.
Promises, mere words, I say,
And He replies ‘Have I ever lied to you?’
I remember His will,
The sweet bondage that makes life’s beautiful again.
Every step I take,
Through the storm and rainbow,
Through miracles and disappointments,
As I glide through opened doors,
And scar my head against closed doors,
Through the light and darkness,
Every step I take,
Leads me back to the one,
I saw through tiny little eyes and happy mouths;
I felt through warm soft blue cloths and sock;
He held me in arms Oh so tender.
I smelt him in the murky rain,
Beneath thick little pink blanket.
He walked with me on wobbly legs,
Encouraging me to move on sturdy floor.
As my mind race through these moments of eons ago
To the point where life happened
It leads me to my one true friend whose voice loudly whispers ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’
These moments takes me back to my first true love, God.

 The End.

Take care of you. God loves you like crazy.
Thanks so much for reading…

CLIMB UNTIL YOUR DREAM COME TRUE

Hello dear,
How's it going?
Check out my new fave poem by Helen Steiner Rice: Climb Until your dream come true.
CLIMB UNTIL YOUR DREAM COME TRUE
Often your tasks will be many,
and more than you think you can do
Often the road will be rugged
and the hills insurmountable, too

Always remember, the hills ahead
Are never as steep as they seem,
And with faith in your heart start upward
And climb 'till you reach your dream,

Nothing in life that is worthy
Is ever too hard to achieve
If you have the courage to try it
And you have the faith to believe

Faith is a force that is greater
Than knowledge or power or skill
And many defeats turn to triumph
If you trust in God's wisdom and will

Faith is a mover of mountains,
There's nothing that God cannot do,
So start out today with faith in your heart
And Climb Until Your Dream Comes True
- Helen Steiner Rice

Hope you keep climbing...What's your fave poem? Please share ^-^

Have an amazing day. Hugs.

Thanks so much for reading :)

WHERE IS DAD?

Hello :)
How's your day so far?

Some days back, I spent some time with a friend of mine whose dad was a soldier. He grew up seeing his dad about 3 times in a month ‘cos his dad was away every other day for one assignment or the other.  Until I lost my dad, I had the opportunity to spend time with him as a kid. He was always there for us (still miss him). I can't imagine life without dad at such a young age and so, when Shola (my friend) told me his story, I decided to capture his ‘childhood feelings for dad’ through his ‘childhood eyes’ by way of poetry (I also tried writing it the 'palindromic' way, which is upside down ~yup, can also be read from the last line to the first line~. Not sure if I did a good job though, please pardon me. But I hope it speaks to you).

WHERE IS DAD? by moi
Mom, where is dad?
He asked, for the third time in 12 hours.
I miss him
Is he coming home soon?
He said he would be back at noon,
And we would play some catch.
He said we would step on the brake and learn to drive.
Then he’d teach me mathematics and make me a kite.
He said he would attend my plays and cheer me at next week’s match.
He said I’m a little man and he would follow me to Lucy’s party
It’s already noon.
Is he coming home soon?
I miss him.
Mom, where is dad?
-The end.
I wrote this for all of us who has lost our dads or a loved one to war, time, natural disasters, work, death, a broken promise or ‘some crazy life style’.
Do you still miss them?
God has helped me through my loss and I’m sure he would help you too. He heals all broken hearts, do not despair.
Like God, I love you too and I’m glad to help anyway I can.

Teddy hugs J
Thanks a lot for reading!!!

DOWN THE TUNNEL

Hi Dear,
How’s your day so far?

I left home early this morning so that I could get to work on time. I was reading a new novel in the bus when her head banged on my shoulder. She woke up apologising, and tried cleaning off her brown powder which had already stained my shirt.
I smiled and reassured her it was Ok. She looked away shyly, leaving me with a stained shirt and ‘thoughts of the rat race’. I turned to pay my fare and noticed 3 more people behind me sleeping. I can’t blame them. It’s Monday.
I share the sentiment of the words inscribed on the old portrait of a monkey I saw once ‘I hate Mondays too’.
Anyways, we can’t kill ourselves. We have to move on. I have to move on believing it will only get better.
Here’s a poem I wrote ‘cos I believe in hope. Hope you like it (Sorry, it's kinda long)...

DOWN THE TUNNEL
I walked down the hollow tunnel,
It was dark and had several bends
The air was warm and humid at the same time
Sticky shiny floor and moss filled wall. It was tiled.

I knew I wasn't alone.
The sounds. Yes. The footsteps.
I heard it resounding behind me,
Clicks of high heeled shoes and flops urging me on

Still some more shuffling, 300 feet ahead of me.
I walked 20 feet more and saw him slopped down.
He says he's been walking for 2 miles with no end in sight.
He said 'I should...' And then we heard the scream.

We heard it again.  ‘I reached it! I reached it!’ She said, her tiny voice echoing in the hollow tunnel.
I felt several others standing up and moving on.
I looked at him and he nodded, he would try,
Maybe not at my pace but he would try.

I continued down the tunnel,
Dancing at every bend,
Tired at every dark end.
And heard the whispers,
'It’s too far'
'It’s a lie'
 'Can’t go on'
'Are we there yet?'

The whispers, it became clearer as I got near.
I passed by them, The talkers,
Their tired eyes piercing my sore sole,
They scoffed and laugh. Someone said, 'I just returned from there, no end in sight'
I replied, ‘but I can hear voices rejoicing’.
Another replied, ‘it's just your imagination’.

And then, we heard it again.
'I can see the light'. We heard the relieved voice from yonder.
I made my byes and quickly hurried along.
Joining the throngs of people journeying down the tunnel.

We walked. Oh, we did, down the never ending tunnel
this is no Alice in wonderland. This is real.
My friend held my hand. Yes, I met a friend on the way.
She kept my mouth busy with sweet talk and I forgot how tiring this journey was.

Clicks of shoes. Shuffling of feet.
Voices. They danced in tune to our heartbeat.
Their hips swayed to every step we took.

And then 20 feet from us.
We heard their laughter.
We smiled as the reflection of light shone on us.
We quickened our pace this time.

I remembered the man I met some 300,000 feet ago.
I remembered the tired minds and souls that could not go on.
I remembered the screams of excitement,
The ones that gave me hope in the darkness. In the shadow,

I saw my hand go up as I approached the light
and screamed in my loudest voice, ‘I can see the light’.
The famed light at the end of the tunnel...

‘This is a miracle...This is hope’...I mused
As I looked back at smiling faces
walking towards the glowing end like me...

Is it nice? J

In this tunnel of life, there are challenges {Maybe, one of them is 'Monday :) }, but we have to keep forging ahead. Trust me, the light is ever shining at the end of the tunnel. Don’t give up. Don’t relent at what you do. ‘God dey’ I always say. Keep on keeping on.

Thank you for reading..Hugs....Have a blessed week...
PS: I think I love Mondays now...

INSPIRED BY BASSEY IKPI: A PLEA TO THE JUICE

Hi Dear,
Just a quick hello...
I love the intertwine of words, whether 'straight-up' or 'flowery'. I can spend my time writing stuffs whether it makes sense or not. I also love listening to people talk. Don't you?
Well, here's a poem (Or something like it), I wrote some time back. I felt I was loosing it and writing this brought back some sanity..Hope you like it... :)

A PLEA TO THE JUICE
Flow juice flow, my inner voice screams
I’m scared, not stressed, but just dark
My heart is beating. I’m gasping for breath
Trying to find an inspiration but nothing is forth coming
The world is painted with words I love, words I want to etch but can’t seem to see...
The blindness, it’s over killing, and I want a miracle.
I can’t seem to write. It just stopped without some form of notice.
The juices seem dried up. The current seems to go another direction
The thought, the zeal, disappeared, as fast as the speed of light go
My finger, my brain seems frozen
It’s not that the thoughts are lost.
It’s just that some unexplainable ghosts from the present are at arm’s length to my depth.
Juice, please flow, and help lessen the burden of a dried mind.
Need your creative blood to function.
To dole out what goes on in my heart
The best way I can.
I want to write.
I need to write.
Teach me how to do that again?
Please, juice flow, the inner man screams.
- Ijeoma

DARE TO BE

Image source;  https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGtHdjO-LQ74X6_mkf7rAlYT_hjZ4Doq6mzXyjFtJmDg5D-khJZwXDFEM_KY2dom9kU46ss1EYC586OtM9X_lO9S66Gqdi2BpLMInmgy8uDVkOGRihFDYnw2b_pIXEpgH0ilb8t_UGneI/s1600/dare

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, "Dare to be!”

Knock, Knock!!!

Knock, Knock!!! I'm here...
How are you ? Did you say Fine? Be truthful, Are you saying fine 'cos its normal or regular to say fine? or what you feel now is 'defeated', 'sad', 'not-so-victorious', 'tired'...I felt that way today (try keeping your sanity in a lunatic world).
Did I succeed? I guess I did. How? Drowned myself in the rivers of contentment and got lifted to shore by caring friends and was dried by God's wind...
How am I feeling now? A lot better.

So, how are you? No matter what you going through, always remember 'It won't last'. So, KNOCK DOWN the crazy feelings and be FINE for real.

Listen to an interesting Poem by Daniel Beaty. It's called Knock Knock :D

You love it right? I did it too...

Knock!!! Knock!!! Who's there? We are!!!, the Olympics here too (Super psyched about it :D)...

Thanks for visiting...Thank You, Thank You...Hugs!!!

HAVE YOU EVER???

Have you ever felt,
the cold and lifeless hand of an infant,
gazed into their unblinking eyes,
and observed the face of death,
when masked in bittersweet innocence?

Have you ever touched your dreams,
and felt the simplistic joy,
of feeling them become reality,
only to abandon them,
for reasons you cannot explain?

Have you ever watched your family,
who once shared the greatest of loves,
suffer an unforgettable and unforgivable tragedy,
that will slowly, painfully, and inevitably,
tear them all apart?

Do you know, firsthand,
the evil that resides deep within the heart of every man,
every woman, and every child?
Have you seen its face as it randomly seeks,
a soul to torment and destroy?

Do you know the darker side of life,
the one that awakens you,
in the still of the night,
crying to the unknowable God's,
Save me from myself. '?

Does your heart constantly question,
whether humanity is obtainable,
in a world corrupted with suffering,
and where war,
is the favoured solution for peace?

If you really want to know me,
and understand the forces that compel me to move on,
then take these questions,
and take this pain,
for this who I am.

-By RED
